How this is calculated
Skirting length is your room perimeter minus a standard 0.83m per door (skirting doesn't run across an opening). Architrave is a standard 4.9m allowance per doorway — two side legs plus a head piece. Both are then converted into whole stock lengths (2.4m skirting, 2.1m architrave), rounded up.
Skirting runs around the room’s full perimeter, minus the width of any doorways — architrave is calculated separately, around each door frame.
Frequently asked questions
Add up the length of all four walls. A simple rectangular room is 2 × (length + width); for an irregular room, measure each wall section and add them together. You don't need to subtract for the doorway itself here — the calculator does that based on the number of doors you enter.
