A media wall should make the television feel like part of the architecture rather than something added afterwards. Every media wall we design and build is planned around the room, the television and equipment you use, the storage you need and the look you want, never chosen from a fixed package.

We design and build:

Built for the room, as part of the project

A media wall is not one standard manufactured product. Each is constructed for the room it sits in, combining framing and plasterboard with MDF, joinery and cabinetry where the design requires them. Because we build it as part of the project, the structure, the recess, the storage and the finish are planned together.

The television, mounted and integrated

We mount the television and design the structure and recess around it. Brackets are selected and supplied to suit the project, or an appropriate bracket you have already bought can be installed.

There is no single maximum screen size. What suits your wall depends on the television, the bracket, the structure and the overall design, and we assess this with you during the design.

Concealing cables is central to a clean finish. The media wall is designed so that visible television and equipment cabling can be hidden wherever it is technically appropriate.

Fires, power and connections

A media wall can incorporate an appropriate built-in fire. Where regulated specialist work is required, the appropriate specialist, certification or sign-off is arranged as required.

The wall can also include the connections your design needs:

• Power and socket positions planned around the television and equipment
• HDMI and other AV cable routes
• Network and data routes, where required
• LED and feature lighting
• Power and cable routes for soundbars, speakers and other equipment

Where electrical certification or specialist sign-off is required, it is arranged as required.

Storage and display

Storage is designed around what you want on show and what you would rather keep out of sight:

• Open and floating shelving
• Cupboards and drawers
• Spaces for a soundbar, speakers or games console
• Display niches
• Feature and LED lighting
• Concealed storage, where the design allows

Finishes chosen for the room

The finish follows the design of the room rather than a standard range. Finishes can include painted surfaces, acoustic, slatted and decorative panelling, feature lighting, and stone-, tile- or marble-effect finishes where specified, with making good and decorating included where required. These are design options chosen for each project, not standard inclusions on every media wall.

Removing what is already there

We can remove existing fireplaces, surrounds, TV units and similar existing features where required, with removal and disposal at additional cost. Where an existing fireplace or installation requires regulated or specialist disconnection or removal, the appropriate specialist, certification or sign-off is arranged as required.

How a project runs

• An initial conversation, starting from photos of the room, approximate measurements and any images of the style you are drawn to
• A free site survey to measure accurately, assess the wall and talk through the design
• Design, layout, storage and finishes selected with you
• A written quotation for the agreed scope and specification
• Your approval and a deposit
• Detailed design and 3D visualisation, where required
• Construction of the framework, joinery and cabinetry
• Cable routes, power, connections and lighting, as included
• Mounting the television and fitting the fire, where included
• Making good and decorating, if included
• A final inspection and handover

Where regulated electrical or fire-related work is involved at any stage, the appropriate specialist, certification or sign-off is arranged as required.

The quotation represents the agreed project. Changes or additions you ask for, or genuinely unforeseen work, can affect the final cost.

Seeing the design before it is built

Our 3D visualisation service allows you to review the proportions, layout and overall design before construction begins, so decisions about the recess, storage, lighting and finish can be made with the finished wall in view.

When you go ahead with the media wall project and pay the project deposit, the visualisation can be developed as part of the project. It can also be commissioned independently as a standalone design service, with no obligation to use us for the build. See our 3D design and visualisation service.

Timings

Every media wall is different, so we do not quote a fixed number of days. The size of the wall, the amount of joinery and cabinetry, the connections and lighting, any fire and the finishing work all shape the time on site, and we discuss a realistic timescale with you as part of planning the project.

On installation days

Our team protects floors and surrounding areas, keeps dust to a minimum as far as reasonably possible, keeps the working area organised and cleans up as the work progresses and at completion.

Aftercare

Our installation work comes with a 1-year workmanship guarantee. Supplied products, such as fires, lighting and brackets, are covered by the relevant manufacturer warranty where one applies, under the terms set by that manufacturer.

Part of a wider renovation

A media wall often sits within a larger change to a room or a home. We also design and install fitted and bespoke wardrobes and carry out complete kitchen renovations.

Where we work

Most of our work is around Leighton Buzzard, Milton Keynes and the wider Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire area, and we also work further along the M1 corridor towards north London. The experience behind Carvalho Renovations

Before Carvalho Renovations was founded, our founder worked professionally in Dubai, UAE, from 2016 to 2018. Media walls from that period, including panelled designs with integrated televisions, illuminated display niches, floating cabinetry and concealed cabling, are shown separately from our own projects and always labelled: Dubai, UAE: completed by our founder during their previous professional career, before Carvalho Renovations was founded. They are not Carvalho Renovations projects.

Questions we are often asked

Is the site survey free?

Yes. The initial site visit to measure the space and discuss the design is free.

Can you hide the TV cables?

Concealing cables is a central part of the design. The media wall is planned so that visible television and equipment cabling can be hidden wherever it is technically appropriate.

3D visualisation is a dedicated design service, separate from the free initial survey. It can be developed as part of your project once you go ahead and pay the project deposit, or commissioned independently as a standalone design service, with no obligation to use us for the build.

How long does a media wall take?

It depends on the design. The size of the wall, the joinery and cabinetry, the connections and lighting, any fire and the finishing work all affect the time on site, so every project is planned individually rather than given a fixed number of days.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. Our installation work comes with a 1-year workmanship guarantee, and supplied products carry the relevant manufacturer warranty where one applies.
