Carvalho Renovations – Tool & Equipment Hire Terms
Version 1.1 — effective 08/08/2026
These Tool & Equipment Hire Terms apply to all equipment hired from Carvalho Renovations. By placing a booking and accepting these terms, the Hirer agrees to comply with the conditions below together with any tool-specific conditions shown during booking and included in the Hire Contract. Please read these terms carefully before confirming your booking.
- Hire Agreement and Eligibility
The person making the booking (“the Hirer”) must be at least 18 years old and must provide accurate contact, identification and payment information when requested. The Hirer is responsible for the equipment throughout the hire period and must not sell, sub-hire, lend or otherwise transfer possession of the equipment to another person without prior written permission from Carvalho Renovations.
- Hire Period and Returns
The hire period begins and ends at the dates and times stated in the booking confirmation. Equipment must be returned by the agreed return time unless an extension has been approved in advance. Extensions are subject to availability and may incur additional hire charges. Keeping equipment beyond the agreed hire period without approval may result in additional charges and may affect subsequent bookings.
- Payment and Security Deposit
Hire charges and any applicable refundable security deposit must be paid as specified during booking. A security deposit may be held against loss, damage, missing items, additional cleaning, late return or other amounts properly due under this agreement. Where deductions are made, the Hirer will be informed of the reason and amount. The Hirer remains responsible for amounts properly due that exceed the security deposit, subject to applicable law.
- Collection, Delivery and Inspection
The Hirer should inspect the equipment at handover and notify Carvalho Renovations promptly of any visible damage, missing accessories or apparent defects. The condition of equipment may be recorded using photographs, video, asset records or a condition report before and after hire. Where delivery or collection is provided, the applicable arrangements and charges will be shown or agreed separately.
- Hirer's Responsibility for Equipment
The Hirer must take reasonable care of the equipment and keep it secure, protected from theft, misuse and avoidable damage throughout the hire period. Equipment must be used only for its intended purpose and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, safety information and any tool-specific conditions supplied with the booking.
- Safe and Competent Use
Equipment must only be operated by a person who is competent to use it safely and who follows all supplied instructions and warnings. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be used where required. Guards, safety devices and protective components must not be removed, bypassed or deliberately disabled. The Hirer must stop using equipment immediately if it appears damaged, unsafe or develops a fault and must contact Carvalho Renovations.
- Loss, Theft and Damage
The Hirer must notify Carvalho Renovations as soon as reasonably possible if equipment is lost, stolen, damaged or involved in an incident. In the event of theft, the Hirer may be required to report the matter to the police and provide a crime reference number. The Hirer may be responsible for reasonable repair or replacement costs resulting from loss, theft, misuse, negligence or damage occurring during the hire period, except for fair wear and tear or where responsibility lies with Carvalho Renovations.
- Cleaning and Return Condition
Equipment must be returned in a reasonably clean condition and with all accessories, batteries, chargers, cases, guards and other components supplied at handover. Reasonable additional cleaning or replacement charges may apply where equipment is returned excessively dirty, contaminated or incomplete. Certain equipment may have additional cleaning requirements and charges stated in its tool-specific conditions.
- Faults and Breakdowns
If equipment develops a fault or stops operating normally, the Hirer must stop using it and contact Carvalho Renovations as soon as reasonably possible. The Hirer must not dismantle, modify or attempt unauthorised repairs. Where a fault is not caused by misuse or damage by the Hirer, Carvalho Renovations will, where reasonably possible, offer appropriate assistance, replacement equipment, a refund or other remedy depending on the circumstances and applicable consumer rights.
- Cancellations and Refunds

- Identification and Verification
Carvalho Renovations may require reasonable proof of identity, address and/or payment details before releasing equipment. - Availability and Substitution
All bookings are subject to equipment remaining available and serviceable. If booked equipment becomes unavailable because of breakdown, damage, late return by another customer or circumstances outside reasonable control, Carvalho Renovations will contact the Hirer as soon as reasonably possible and may offer suitable replacement equipment, alternative hire dates or a refund for the affected hire.
- Tool-Specific Conditions
Individual tools may have additional conditions concerning operation, cleaning, permitted materials, accessories, safety or potential charges. Where applicable, these conditions will be displayed during the booking process and incorporated into the Hirer's Hire Contract. By accepting the Hire Contract, the Hirer also accepts the tool-specific conditions relating to the equipment booked.
